Waldorf KB37 and Behringer System 100
Here is a brief video I put together looking at the KB37 eurorack keyboard from Waldorf and the System 100 modules from Behringer.
I briefly summarised my feelings in a conclusion section at the end of the video, but I have to say I am really very impressed both with the KB37 and the System 100 modules.
The KB37 is quite a lot of money, but the keyboard is great quality, the MIDI-to-CV conversion is really excellent and provides a lot of options for modular connectivity, and there is a basic but usable arpeggiator on board. I was also really impressed with the audio output capability they have added to the case, it makes the whole unit feel and function like a self-contained synthesiser keyboard. And finally a couple of things I forgot to mention in the video, the case is solid metal and very sturdy and the power supply is integrated so no external PSU to worry about.
As for the Behringer System 100 modules, I never owned the original System 100M so I can not comment as to how accurate the Behringer remakes are but they do sound phenomenal. A really rich and beefy sound to the oscillators and a lot of character to the filters. At an average of £99 per module, and with each module generally giving you two of everything on board, these Behringer modules are phenomenal value for money given the build quality and the gorgeous analogue sounds you can get from them.
